Recent National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on September 19 highlight a high probability of showers and thunderstorms, with 80-90% precipitation chances under southerly flow, which traders cite as the main factor capping implied highs near 70-73°F. Cloud cover and evaporative cooling from rain are expected to limit afternoon peaks despite climatological averages around 75°F, while model spreads in timing and intensity create genuine uncertainty that keeps 74-77°F outcomes competitive. Updated NWS point forecasts and hourly guidance ahead of the weekend will likely refine these probabilities as conditions evolve.
