Persistent August heat across Southern California, with daytime highs 15–20°F above the 85°F seasonal average and the warmest summer on record in downtown Los Angeles, has suppressed overnight radiative cooling and kept minimum temperatures elevated. Current National Weather Service guidance and model consensus point to lows in the mid-70s for August 27 under mostly cloudy skies, moderate onshore flow, and elevated dew points near 65°F that limit temperature drops. These conditions differentiate the closely matched 72–77°F outcomes, while thinner marine layer or clearer breaks could allow brief dips toward 68–70°F. Traders are weighting the ongoing heat advection and forecast stability more heavily than historical 65°F climatology.
