Recent forecast models from sources including the National Weather Service indicate a frontal boundary bringing periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms to New York City on September 13, with high humidity and extensive cloud cover expected to limit solar heating and cap daytime maxima near or slightly above seasonal norms of 77–78°F. This setup explains the tight clustering of market-implied odds around the 78–81°F bins, as variable rain timing and any afternoon clearing could shift the official high by a degree or two. Stronger consensus on widespread precipitation reduces probabilities for 82°F or higher, while historical September data shows similar synoptic patterns rarely exceed 80°F under persistent overcast conditions. Updated model runs and NWS briefings later today will likely refine the exact peak temperature range.
