Bulgaria faces snap parliamentary elections on April 19, its eighth in five years after the Zhelyazkov government's December 2025 resignation amid corruption protests and budget disputes. Former President Rumen Radev's Progressive Bulgaria leads recent polls at 30-34%, extending its advantage over GERB-UDF (18-19%), with five to six parties—likely including Revival, MRF, and BSP—poised to surpass the 4% threshold for the 240-seat National Assembly. Vote-buying allegations and employer pressure have intensified scrutiny on election eve, prompting caretaker government reforms and OSCE monitoring. Fragmented results historically demand prolonged coalition negotiations, shaping trader focus on polling accuracy and turnout amid 51% intended participation.
