Incumbent Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu dominated California's June 2 primary for the 36th congressional district, capturing roughly 58-60% of the vote and advancing comfortably under the state's top-two system. The district's strong Democratic lean, reflected in a partisan voting index exceeding D+20, has long favored the party in general elections. Republican candidates split their support, with the top two finishers each below 18%, confirming a November matchup between a Democrat and Republican. Trader consensus on a Democratic victory aligns with the district's established voting patterns and the absence of competitive challengers capable of shifting the outcome.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
