Recent National Weather Service forecasts for Houston indicate a high in the mid-90s today under mostly sunny skies, with south winds of 5-10 mph and a 40-50% chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms that could limit peak heating. This aligns with climatological norms for mid-September, when average highs reach about 90°F amid high humidity and heat indices often exceeding 105°F. Model consensus supports temperatures peaking near 95-97°F before any convection develops, positioning the 94-95°F and 96-97°F bins as the strongest market-implied outcomes at 49% and 30.5% respectively. Afternoon observations and updated model runs will clarify whether isolated storms suppress the daily maximum or allow brief spikes higher.
