Persistent high pressure over the southeastern U.S. and southerly flow are sustaining above-normal heat across central Texas, with National Weather Service and model consensus pointing to a Monday high near 100°F in Austin under mostly clear skies and low rain chances. Subtle differences in peak temperature across forecast bins stem from minor variations in afternoon cloud cover, wind speeds around 5-10 mph, and boundary-layer mixing that could trim or enhance maximum readings by a degree or two. Historical September averages near 91°F underscore the anomalous warmth, while heat index values near 110°F reflect high humidity. Traders are weighing the latest NWS point forecasts and short-range model runs against potential late-day convection that might cap the daily maximum.
