Dune: Part Three holds the strongest trader consensus for the 2027 Best Visual Effects Oscar at 60.5% implied probability, driven by the franchise's prior wins, Denis Villeneuve's established VFX pipeline, and the scale of its December 2026 release. Filming wrapped in 2025 with extensive post-production underway, and recent teaser trailers have reinforced expectations of groundbreaking work on par with the sequels' predecessors. Project Hail Mary sits at 20.5% amid buzz around its ambitious sci-fi sequences and Ryan Gosling vehicle status, while The Odyssey trails at 5.5% due to Christopher Nolan's emphasis on practical IMAX photography that limits heavy CGI reliance. Lower-probability titles like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday reflect early tracking but face stiff competition from established frontrunners. Upcoming trailer drops and guild discussions could shift momentum before nominations.
