The redrawn TX-35 map, shifted by Texas Republicans in 2025 to an R+4 to R+7 lean based on 2024 presidential results, created an open seat after Rep. Greg Casar relocated. Nominees Johnny Garcia (D), a Bexar County deputy sheriff viewed as a moderate, and Carlos De La Cruz (R), a Trump-endorsed Air Force veteran, advanced from May 2026 runoffs. Forecasters rate the district Likely or Lean Republican, yet an August 2026 poll showed the candidates essentially tied at 45-44%. Midterm dynamics favoring the out-party, combined with the district's substantial Hispanic population and voter concerns over immigration enforcement and costs, underpin trader consensus favoring the Democratic nominee at 63% implied probability.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
