Recent NOAA and NWS forecasts indicate a cooling trend into Burning Man week (August 30–September 7), with pre-event highs near 95°F dropping to daytime peaks generally in the low-to-mid 80s as a cold front passes and seasonal moderation begins. Model consensus favors 86–88°F as the likely maximum under typical late-summer desert conditions—clear skies, low humidity, and moderate southwest winds—while the small thunderstorm risk adds minor uncertainty to localized heating. El Niño influences and regional fire-related smoke may subtly alter insolation but are not expected to drive extremes. Traders appear to weigh these short-term model runs against historical early-September baselines around 85–90°F when assigning the closest odds to the 87–88°F bin.
