Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance for Chicago on September 4 points to highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, with the market’s tight clustering around 86–91 °F reflecting modest differences among ensemble runs. Onshore easterly flow off Lake Michigan is expected to temper peak readings near the shoreline while inland areas may reach the low 90s before any afternoon convection develops. A 30–50 % chance of showers and thunderstorms, combined with increasing cloud cover, introduces additional uncertainty in the precise maximum. Traders are therefore weighting the most probable outcomes near the seasonal climatological ceiling rather than extremes, with fresh model cycles and the next NWS forecast update likely to refine the range before resolution.
