Recent polling averages place National and Labour nearly tied on party vote near 30 percent each ahead of the November 7 election, with the right bloc (National, ACT, NZ First) and left bloc (Labour, Greens, Te Pāti Māori) both projected near or below the 62-seat threshold in many simulations. Incumbent Prime Minister Christopher Luxon’s government has seen National support slip below 30 percent in several surveys amid leadership questions and coalition tensions, while Labour under Chris Hipkins has shown resilience in select polls despite internal challenges. Minor parties including the Opportunities Party hover near the 5 percent threshold and could act as kingmakers, though National has ruled out cooperation. Traders price Labour slightly ahead, consistent with the narrow and volatile contest reflected in the latest aggregates.
