Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance shows Austin highs near 94–98°F on September 17, with increasing easterly flow, higher humidity, and a 20–30% chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms that could limit peak heating. This cooling from the current 101°F day stems from a shift away from strong southerly winds and clearer skies, though model spread on cloud cover and convective timing keeps 96–99°F outcomes competitive with 94–95°F. Heat indices near 105–110°F remain likely even if actual air temperatures fall slightly below recent peaks, aligning trader consensus with the narrow forecast envelope.
