Forecast models from the National Weather Service and GFS consensus indicate overnight lows for Los Angeles on September 17 will settle in the mid- to upper-60s°F, driven by persistent marine layer stratus, light onshore southwest winds near 5–10 mph, and high humidity around 70–85% that limits radiational cooling. This setup aligns with typical early-fall coastal climatology, where the Pacific high and sea surface temperatures near 68°F moderate extremes compared to inland valleys. Trader consensus clusters around 66–69°F bins because minor variations in fog timing or exact measurement site (such as LAX versus downtown) could shift the minimum by 1–2°F, while probabilities drop sharply below 60°F or above 70°F due to the absence of strong offshore flow or clear-sky conditions that would amplify cooling. Updated model runs overnight will refine the precise minimum before resolution.
