Latest forecast models from sources including MetService and international guidance indicate a daytime high of 15–16°C for Wellington on September 15 under northerly flow and partly cloudy skies. Northerly winds advect milder maritime air while limited cloud cover allows moderate solar heating, keeping temperatures above the September climatological average of roughly 12.5°C. Model consensus shows low precipitation risk and wind speeds that support rather than suppress the peak reading, with minor spread arising from exact timing of any high-cloud increase or wind gust variability. Traders have priced the tight 15–16°C range most heavily, reflecting the narrow uncertainty window two days before resolution against official observations. Updated model runs and the final MetService briefing remain the key near-term catalysts.
