Current National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance indicate a September 23 overnight low in Denver near 54–56 °F under partly to mostly cloudy skies with light winds and modest moisture. This places the expected minimum above the long-term average of 46 °F yet well below the 70 °F threshold, creating the observed near-even split between the sub-51 °F and 70 °F-or-higher outcomes. Key differentiating factors include the strength and timing of any approaching short-wave trough, which could enhance radiational cooling under clearer skies or limit it via increased cloud cover and mixing; elevation-driven diurnal ranges typical of the High Plains; and uncertainty in dew-point advection. Updated NWS forecast discussions and 00Z model runs over the next 48 hours will likely resolve the primary variables ahead of market resolution.
