A cold front advancing across southeastern Brazil is the dominant driver behind trader positioning for São Paulo’s September 6 maximum, with official guidance from INMET and ensemble models favoring a high near 16 °C. Southerly flow is advecting cooler polar air while widespread cloud cover and periods of rain limit daytime insolation, keeping surface temperatures well below the early-September climatological average of roughly 22–24 °C. Recent model runs show modest spread in the timing and intensity of the frontal passage, which accounts for the tight clustering of market-implied odds around 15–18 °C; lighter or later precipitation could allow brief warming toward 18 °C, whereas stronger onshore flow would cap readings closer to 15 °C. Updated short-range guidance expected overnight will be the next key input for resolving the outcome.
