Forecast models from the National Weather Service and NOAA consensus show a typical early-September marine layer along the Southern California coast, with overnight lows for Los Angeles expected in the low-to-mid 60s under partly cloudy skies and light southwest winds. This places the most likely minimum near 62–65 °F, consistent with the 1991–2020 climatological average of 64.6 °F and recent Septembers. Trader emphasis on the 55 °F-or-below outcome reflects residual uncertainty from variable marine-layer depth, urban heat-island effects at official stations, and potential for brief radiative cooling spikes if fog clears earlier than modeled. Upcoming NWS forecast updates and hourly observations through evening will refine the exact minimum before market resolution.
