This market will resolve according to the party affiliation of the listed candidates who advance from the primary to the general election for Governor of California. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the government of California, specifically the Office of the Secretary of State.Trader consensus heavily favors a Democrat-Republican matchup (76%) advancing from California's top-two gubernatorial primary on June 2, reflecting recent polls where Republican Steve Hilton leads the RCP average at 15.5%, followed closely by Democrat Tom Steyer (13%) and ex-Rep. Eric Swalwell (12.5%), with Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco (R) at 11.8%. The California GOP convention on April 11-12 split endorsement votes nearly evenly between Hilton (44%) and Bianco (49%), preventing consolidation but underscoring Republican viability amid a fragmented Democratic field shaken by Swalwell's abrupt campaign setback last week. High undecided rates (20-25%) in polls like the April 8-10 KGTV/SurveyUSA survey, which had Steyer leading Hilton, sustain Dem-Dem odds at 21% while deeming Rep-Rep (3.4%) unlikely given the state's partisan lean.
