Current forecasts from the National Weather Service and major models indicate mid-90s highs for Houston on September 20 under mostly sunny skies with light southerly winds and building humidity. This setup favors peak temperatures near 94-95°F, driven by strong subsidence beneath a high-pressure ridge, minimal cloud cover, and above-average seasonal warmth that has persisted through mid-September. The closely matched market probabilities for 94-95°F versus 92-93°F reflect model spread on exact afternoon mixing depth and any late-day moisture return that could slightly cap readings. Heat indices near 105°F underscore the role of dew points in the low 70s, while historical averages near 88.5°F highlight the anomalous warmth without major frontal passages expected before resolution.
