With voting underway in the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) leadership election from April 7 to 12—determining François Legault's successor as party leader and Quebec premier—traders heavily favor Christine Fréchette at 80.5% implied probability, reflecting her consistent lead in public opinion polls and early momentum from caucus endorsements since the January race launch. Bernard Drainville trails at 15.5%, buoyed by high-profile support from three cabinet ministers announced two days ago, yet hampered by lower popularity even among some party ranks per February surveys. Amid CAQ's sagging provincial polls ahead of the October election, members' final ballots could shift dynamics, though Fréchette's edge persists in trader consensus.
