Incumbent President Patrice Talon's endorsement of Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni as his successor has driven trader consensus to 67.5% implied probability for Wadagni in Benin's April 2026 presidential election, reflecting the ruling Union Progressiste party's institutional dominance and continuity preference. National Assembly President Paul Hounkpè holds 40% as a strong alternative ally within the same pro-Talon bloc, bolstered by his legislative influence amid opposition challenges from restrictive candidacy laws enacted in 2019. Recent polls reinforce Wadagni's lead, with no major disruptions like candidate disqualifications or scandals shifting sentiment, underscoring stability in trader assessments of elite-backed outcomes.
