**Official National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on September 18, 2026, center on a high of 72°F under mostly cloudy skies with easterly flow.** This aligns closely with the market’s leading 72–73°F bin at 43% implied probability, followed by 74–75°F (24.5%) and 70–71°F (24%). Key drivers include a stable post-frontal air mass with limited daytime heating from persistent cloud cover and light northeast-to-east winds of 5–10 mph. Model consensus from recent runs shows minimal warm advection or clearing that would push temperatures higher, while the risk of light showers or drizzle further caps the maximum. Historical September averages near 75°F provide context, but the current pattern favors readings at or slightly below that baseline. Recent developments reinforce this positioning: no significant forecast shifts occurred in the last 24–48 hours, and upstream observations confirm cooler, moister air dominating the Midwest. Traders appear to be anchoring heavily on the NWS point forecast and ensemble guidance, with the tight clustering around 70–75°F reflecting modest uncertainty tied to exact cloud timing and any brief sun breaks. Upcoming model updates or morning observations could refine the precise maximum before resolution.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=kord
This market will resolve off of the Hourly Data provided using the "Show Hourly Data" button.
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to US Units w/ kts" button until the relevant table displays °F.
This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
