National Weather Service forecasts for New York City on September 17 project a daytime high near 81–83°F under mostly cloudy skies with light southerly winds, aligning with the market’s strong preference for the 82–83°F bin. Seasonal cooling after peak summer, combined with persistent cloud cover and a modest chance of showers by evening, limits strong surface heating and keeps maximum temperatures from climbing into the mid-80s. Model consensus shows little disagreement on this range, with no strong warm-air advection or clear-sky conditions to push readings higher. Recent observations confirm morning temperatures in the low 70s rising gradually, supporting trader consensus around the low-80s outcome while leaving modest probability for slight upward or downward revisions based on final cloud and precipitation trends.
