California Proposition 41 qualified for the November 3, 2026 ballot in late June after sponsors collected sufficient signatures, positioning it as a direct response to competing measures such as the proposed one-time wealth tax. The initiative would mandate pre-election audits of special tax ballot measures once they reach 25 percent of required signatures and require recurring performance audits every four years for new special taxes enacted after January 1, 2026, while barring exclusions from the state's voter-approved spending limit. Traders assign a modest edge to passage at 56 percent for Yes, reflecting divided sentiment over taxpayer oversight provisions amid overlapping tax initiatives where conflicting measures default to the higher vote total. No major campaign shifts or polling releases have altered positioning in recent weeks, leaving the outcome sensitive to broader voter reactions on fiscal accountability versus new revenue proposals.
