Persistent high pressure and a strong heat dome over the southern Plains have sustained above-normal temperatures across Central Texas through late September, with Austin seeing multiple days near or above 100°F earlier in the month. Short-range models from the National Weather Service and private forecasters currently converge on highs of 95–97°F for September 25 under partly cloudy skies and light easterly flow, well above the seasonal average near 90°F but below the extreme 106°F+ threshold. A potential influx of drier air from the northeast could modestly lower dew points and limit afternoon heating, while any delay in pattern weakening would support continued upper-90s readings. This narrow window between amplified ridge persistence and subtle frontal influences creates the observed market split between tail outcomes.
