Latest National Weather Service and ensemble forecasts point to a high in the low 70s for Chicago on September 14, driven by a cooler northwesterly flow and increased cloud cover that limits daytime heating after a warmer weekend. Multiple models converge on afternoon maxima near 71–73°F, with lake-effect moderation and light easterly winds near the shoreline potentially capping peaks below historical averages of 76.7°F. Trader sentiment remains split between the 70–71°F and 72–73°F bins because small shifts in timing of cloud build-up or wind direction could alter the exact daily maximum by a degree or two. Updated model runs and official observations through the weekend will provide the next key data points before resolution.
