Darja Semenistaja, ranked around WTA No. 110, faces lower-ranked Croatian Tena Lukas (No. 448) in the opening round of the WTA 125 Makarska Open on outdoor clay. Semenistaja brings stronger recent tour-level results, including quarterfinal appearances, though she exited Roland Garros qualifying. Lukas, a local wildcard, carries momentum from a straight-sets win in the event and home-crowd support on her preferred surface. Their limited prior meetings and clay-court movement patterns favor the higher-ranked player, but Lukas’s recent form creates realistic upset potential in the best-of-three encounter.
