Current short-range forecasts from multiple models place the overnight low in New York City on September 17 near 69–70 °F, driving the 46 % market-implied probability on the 70–71 °F bin. Southerly flow ahead of an approaching front and above-normal seasonal guidance from NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center have kept readings several degrees warmer than the 1991–2020 average low of 61 °F for the date. Limited model spread and the proximity of resolution leave little room for a sharp cool-air intrusion, though any eastward shift in the frontal timing or stronger radiational cooling under clearer skies could still pull the minimum into the upper 60s. Updated National Weather Service and ensemble runs expected overnight will determine whether the current consensus holds.
