Incumbent Keith Ellison secured the Democratic nomination with a strong primary performance and holds a historical edge in Minnesota, where Democrats have controlled the attorney general’s office since 1971. Republican nominee Ron Schutz, a former law firm chair, is centering his campaign on strengthening fraud prosecutions and reducing perceived politicization, citing enforcement gaps during Ellison’s tenure. A late-August KSTP/SurveyUSA poll showed the race tied at 43 percent, with 15 percent undecided, underscoring its competitiveness two months before the November 3 general election. Trader pricing reflects Ellison’s incumbency and the state’s partisan leanings, while leaving room for shifts driven by fraud-related messaging, turnout patterns, or late developments in the final weeks.
