Kris Kobach, the Republican incumbent seeking a second term, faces Democrat Chris Mann in a November 3, 2026, rematch of their 2022 contest, which Kobach won by 1.6 points. Both candidates advanced unopposed in the August 4 primaries. The race remains tight due to Mann’s stronger early fundraising, national Democratic support, and outside spending from groups like the Democratic Attorneys General Association, alongside Kobach’s record on litigation and consumer cases. Forecasters have shifted the contest toward a lean-Republican rating amid broader midterm dynamics, with debates centering on crime trends, state law defense, and federal cooperation. Trader consensus reflects these competitive factors, with limited separation expected until closer to Election Day.
