Recent forecasts from the National Weather Service and other models indicate a minimum temperature for Chicago on August 30 likely in the mid-70s °F, driven by persistent southerly winds advecting warm, humid air, extensive cloud cover limiting nocturnal radiative cooling, and a slight chance of showers that could further suppress temperature drops. This setup contrasts with climatological averages near 64 °F and explains why market-implied probabilities cluster tightly around 70–73 °F outcomes, reflecting uncertainty in exact overnight minimums amid model consensus on minimal cooling potential. Key resolution factors include official Chicago observations at primary stations, with any late-day frontal passage or unexpected clear skies as primary variables that could shift results toward lower bins.
