Recent polling for New Zealand’s 7 November 2026 general election shows a tight contest between the incumbent National-led coalition and the Labour opposition under MMP rules, where minor parties such as ACT, New Zealand First, the Greens, Te Pāti Māori and the Opportunities Party can determine government formation. A September Taxpayers’ Union–Curia survey projected the right bloc at 64 seats while other late-August and early-September polls from Roy Morgan and Reid Research placed Labour-aligned parties narrowly ahead on seat projections. Leadership stability questions for Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and voter concerns over cost-of-living pressures have kept both major parties below 32 percent in most surveys, sustaining trader assessments that Labour holds a modest edge in the race to secure the most seats or assemble a viable coalition.
