The Quebec general election on October 5, 2026, features an open La Prairie seat after incumbent Christian Dubé stepped aside. Early campaign dynamics show a competitive field led by CAQ candidate Pierre Guillot-Hurtubise, PQ nominee Frédéric Côté, Liberal Sonia Ziadé, and QS contender Francine van Winden. Trader consensus remains tight because provincial polls indicate a fluid PQ-CAQ contest with the CAQ closing ground amid trade and economic concerns, while the riding's 2022 CAQ strength has not yet translated into decisive local momentum. Nomination deadlines run through mid-September and party leaders' regional tours could shift visibility. Any riding-specific polling, candidate debates, or broader swings in support for the PQ's sovereignty stance versus the CAQ's governance record would likely widen gaps among these contenders.
