The Richmond riding in Quebec’s National Assembly race features a tight contest among several declared candidates ahead of the October 5, 2026 general election. Guillaume Rousseau (CAQ), a law professor and former PQ candidate known for his role defending Bill 21, faces Bernard Sévigny (PQ), the former Sherbrooke mayor, Hugo Fontaine (Liberal), a former journalist, Dominic Bouffard (Conservative), an entrepreneur, and David Poulin-Latulippe (Québec solidaire), a clinical psychologist. The incumbent CAQ MNA is not seeking re-election in this redistributed Estrie riding. Recent provincial polling shows the PQ leading overall while the CAQ has gained ground, producing closely matched local projections across aggregators that treat the outcome as a toss-up. This balance reflects vote fragmentation across five parties, the absence of an incumbent advantage, and shifting voter preferences on issues such as housing costs. Late-campaign events, turnout patterns, or further shifts in provincial momentum could widen gaps among the top contenders before ballots are cast.
