The race between Apvienotais saraksts (AS) and Latvija pirmajā vietā (LPV) for the most seats in the October 3, 2026 Saeima election stays tight because recent polling shows them separated by just a few points amid Latvia’s fragmented party system and proportional representation rules. AS benefits from its position as the leading coalition partner and regionalist base, while LPV capitalizes on dissatisfaction with the current government’s performance and populist appeals. Earlier 2026 surveys fluctuated between the two, with no decisive late surge or major event creating separation. Traders price in the high likelihood of post-election coalition negotiations, where small shifts in vote share or turnout among smaller parties like Progresīvie or Nacionālā apvienība could tip the plurality.
