This market will resolve according to the winner of the Democratic primary election for the mayor of Washington D.C., scheduled to be held June 16, 2026. If no 2026 D.C. Democratic Mayoral Primary takes place, this market will resolve to “Other.” The resolution source for this market will be the first official announcement of the results from the D.C. Democratic Party; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may suffice.Janeese Lewis George holds a commanding lead in the June 16, 2026, Democratic primary for D.C. mayor following incumbent Muriel Bowser’s retirement after three terms. Early returns with roughly two-thirds of votes counted show her at approximately 53% compared to Kenyan McDuffie’s 37%, consistent with pre-election polling and her record-breaking individual donor base. Her “people-first” platform emphasizing housing production, tenant protections, affordable childcare, and utility cost relief mobilized strong grassroots support in a ranked-choice primary. Traders price her victory near certainty at 98.5% because no other candidate has demonstrated a viable path to overtake her in the remaining ballots. Late shifts remain theoretically possible through unusually skewed outstanding precincts or procedural delays, though current trends make such reversals highly improbable.
