Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Magistrate of Yilan County as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Magistrates appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Lin Kuo-chang, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee, holds the clearest lead in trader pricing for the November 28, 2026 Yilan County magistrate race, reflecting consistent polling advantages and established party infrastructure in a county that has alternated between major parties in recent cycles. Wu Tsung-hsien, the Kuomintang candidate who secured the opposition alliance nomination after prevailing in internal polling against Taiwan People's Party contender Chen Wan-hui, trails as the main alternative but has faced challenges consolidating local factions following the primary process. Chen and minor figures such as Chang Sheng-te register minimal implied support, consistent with their lower standalone polling and limited organizational reach. Recent developments, including candidate registration closing in early September with only five total entrants and opposition scrutiny of Lin's prior state-owned enterprise roles, have not materially altered the consensus positioning. The race remains two months from resolution, leaving room for shifts from campaign events or turnout dynamics in this closely watched local contest.
