Former President Rumen Radev commands an overwhelming 82% trader consensus as next prime minister, fueled by his commanding lead in polls for Bulgaria's snap parliamentary election on April 19—its eighth in five years amid chronic instability. Having resigned the presidency in January to lead the new Progressive Bulgaria alliance on an anti-corruption platform, Radev capitalizes on public backlash from 2025 protests that felled the Zhelyazkov government over budget controversies. Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov's recent vows for vote-buying crackdowns underscore clean election efforts, while GERB leader Boyko Borissov trails at 4% amid voter fatigue. Acting President Iliyana Yotova will issue post-election mandates, with coalition talks pivotal despite Radev's edge.
