In the closely contested Laviolette–Saint-Maurice riding ahead of the October 5, 2026, Quebec general election, trader consensus reflects high uncertainty between Parti Québécois candidate Élodie Murphy-Gauthier and Coalition Avenir Québec nominee Guy Veillette, with other contenders trailing significantly. The race remains tight due to the open seat after incumbent Marie-Louise Tardif's retirement, local candidate profiles including Murphy-Gauthier's health sector background and Veillette's regional media experience, and broader provincial shifts favoring stronger PQ performance in Mauricie projections. Recent writ issuance and early campaign positioning have not yet produced decisive separation, while Conservative and Liberal entries add fragmentation. Upcoming nomination deadlines, advance polls, and regional debates could alter momentum before election day.
