Recent candidate announcements have intensified competition in the open Vanier-Les Rivières seat ahead of the October 5 Quebec general election. Françoise Faverjon-Fortin (CAQ), Stéphanie Martin (PQ), and Patrick Paquet (PCQ) each bring established local profiles—business and governance experience, municipal political background, and journalism credentials—while Charles Hudon (PLQ) trails with lower market odds. Late-August polling aggregates from sources such as Québec 125 and 338Canada show the top three parties clustered within a few points around 25-28 percent support, reflecting the riding’s history of swings and the absence of an incumbent. This balance sustains close implied probabilities in trader assessments. Further separation could emerge from targeted campaigning on regional priorities like homelessness and capital infrastructure, candidate debates, or shifts in provincial momentum before nomination closes on September 17.
