This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Cape Town International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 3 Sep '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=fact If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source. In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**A Cut-Off Low (COL) system is the dominant driver pushing Cape Town's September 3 high into the mid-teens Celsius, with market-implied odds clustering tightly around 14–17°C.** South African Weather Service forecasts and model consensus highlight cool, wet, and windy conditions on the day, with strong southeasterly winds (often 20–40 km/h gusting higher), extensive cloud cover, and periods of rain or showers that limit daytime heating. Multiple sources project daytime maxima of 14–16°C (roughly 57–61°F), well below the early-September climatological average of ~18–19°C. The system’s timing—peaking Thursday into Friday—introduces modest forecast uncertainty around exact peak temperatures and rainfall intensity, which explains the near-even distribution across 14°C, 15°C, 16°C, and 17°C outcomes. Stronger or more persistent onshore flow and heavier precipitation would favor the lower end of that range, while any clearing or lighter winds could allow brief warming toward 17°C. Updated model runs and official SAWS briefings over the next 48 hours will be the key data points traders monitor for shifts in these probabilities.
