As of early August 2026, real-time readings remain light (typically 7–16 mph), consistent with the current stable pattern, yet NWS and NOAA medium-range guidance indicate potential for stronger systems later in the month. Traders therefore assign very high implied probabilities to thresholds of 85 mph and above because the climatological baseline, combined with remaining forecast windows through month-end, favors at least one significant wind event before resolution.
