Official National Weather Service observations recorded a maximum of 102°F at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on August 28 under clear skies and light easterly winds, aligning closely with the market's dominant 100-101°F outcome. Persistent high-pressure ridging, low precipitable water values, and above-normal soil moisture deficits across North Texas supported daytime heating near or above the 94°F climatological normal, consistent with 2026's broader summer pattern of frequent 100°F+ readings. Model guidance from prior days converged on this range with minimal spread, and the absence of cloud cover or frontal passages eliminated cooler scenarios. Only an unforecasted surge in moisture or measurement revision at the official station could realistically shift resolution outside 100-102°F.
