Current forecast models from sources including MetService and international ensembles indicate a maximum temperature near 14°C for Wellington on September 16, driven by northwesterly winds, increasing cloud cover, and a 25-40% chance of light showers that limit daytime heating. Spring climatology shows average September highs around 15°C, yet the immediate steering pattern and pressure gradients favor slightly cooler outcomes, aligning with the market's leading 15°C (61%) and 14°C (10%) implied probabilities. Model consensus remains stable but carries typical uncertainty ranges of 1-2°C for coastal sites exposed to Cook Strait winds, with updated runs and official briefings expected to refine the exact peak before resolution.
