Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a cooling trend for Los Angeles on August 30 driven by strengthening onshore southwest flow and a persistent marine layer, with morning low clouds and fog limiting daytime heating and keeping highs mostly in the upper 70s to low 80s at coastal and airport stations. This produces the tight market split between 80-81°F and 82-83°F outcomes, as small differences in fog clearance timing or wind strength can shift peak readings by a degree or two. Inland spots may briefly reach the mid-80s under clearer skies, but official resolution typically references cooler airport or downtown observations. Historical late-August averages near 77°F provide context for the current above-normal but moderated forecast, with final confirmation expected from the next 24 hours of observational data.
