Elevated preliminary tornado reports from the Storm Prediction Center, totaling 1,391 through late August 2026, have positioned the 1250+ outcome as the dominant market-implied probability at 88.5%. This exceeds the long-term average annual count near 1,200 and reflects an active season with strong spring and early summer activity, including record-setting reports in Illinois and doubled normals in states like Ohio. Official SPC data distinguish these preliminary figures from final confirmed counts, which undergo verification and typically run lower, yet the pace through peak months supports trader consensus for a total well above 1250. Remaining fall and winter activity remains possible but historically limited, with upcoming monthly summaries providing key updates.
