Current forecasts from multiple sources indicate Chicago's September 23 low will likely fall in the mid-50s°F amid persistent northeast winds of 10-15 mph, extensive cloud cover, and a stable air mass following recent cooler conditions. This setup favors modest overnight radiative cooling without strong cold advection, consistent with climatological norms near 55.5°F. Trader emphasis on the 47°F-or-below and 66°F-or-higher brackets reflects model sensitivity to subtle shifts in wind direction, cloud thickness, or weak frontal passages that could alter minimum temperatures by several degrees. Upcoming National Weather Service updates and evening model runs will clarify whether the boundary layer remains capped or allows greater diurnal range.
