The April 10 election of Zoran Stevanović, leader of the anti-establishment Resni.ca party, as National Assembly speaker with 48 votes from a center-right bloc—including Janez Janša's Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS), New Slovenia (NSi) under Jernej Vrtovec, and allies—has solidified trader consensus on Janša's strong path to becoming Slovenia's next prime minister for a potential fourth term. This cross-party unity post-March 22 parliamentary elections, where incumbent Robert Golob's Freedom Movement secured 29 seats but no majority, underscores stalled center-left coalition talks and right-wing momentum. Vrtovec and Anže Logar emerge as compromise candidates within the bloc, while Golob's odds reflect fragmentation. President Nataša Pirc Musar will soon initiate consultations to nominate a premier amid tight negotiations.
