Recent NWS forecasts and ensemble model consensus point to an overnight low of 53–56°F for New York City on September 23, driven by persistent northeasterly flow and extensive cloud cover that limit radiational cooling. This pattern follows a cool, moist air mass advected from the Atlantic, keeping temperatures several degrees below early-autumn normals while suppressing daytime highs near 65–67°F. Traders have clustered probability on the 56–57°F bin as the most likely outcome, with nearby ranges reflecting minor differences among GFS, ECMWF, and local guidance on exact minimum timing and urban heat-island effects. Resolution hinges on the official Central Park observation, with any unexpected clearing or wind shift potentially shifting the recorded low.
